She wasn't always this...'blonde'. Actually she was one of the biggest brains within the Soviet Union. She loved nature and was actually one of the only things about herself that stayed the same. Before, she had no chest, which seems to be a big thing that the guys 'like' about her now.
She was brave, was willing to protect her siblings and her people. She wore dresses & greatly agreed to help her sister do the same. Her hair was even a darker shade then what it was. Everything about her was completely different than what it was.
It took but a second for everything to change.
She wasn't the only one changed either, this one event rattled her little brother and sister, scattering their brains and bodies to something unlike what they used to be. She still wouldn't exchange them for anything in the world, but she did miss the old days.
There's no way that she could go back to those times. In fact, there was no way that she could act like she used to. Maybe that's the reason why se felt used by anyone and everyone who she didn't know. All these people were either focused on were either her chest or her life changing event.
She wish that she could find that one man that would treat her like she should be.
The Secret Treasure.
The kind heart.
The hero.
The cure for the Chernobyl Crisis.
Today was the day. The anniversary of the devastating day that had happened so many years ago. Like her sister, she remembers what had happened as if it were yesterday.
~
Nothing looked out of the ordinary as she walked around the reactor, examining the work as well as the structure supposedly solid. She let out a kind smile as she passed a few people, their smiles beaming widely as they continued to their destination. The nature all around the area gave her a bright feeling that day, as if nothing could go wrong.
Yet, destiny had other plans.
She turned her head around as the sounds and any forms of working items whirred to a halt. This wasn't right. This wasn't suppose to happen. What the hell was going on?
She turned her head around and started walking again, right before the reactor she was in exploded, causing debris and chemicals to scatter everywhere. She used her arms to cover her eyes and mouth, trying desperately to prevent from inhaling those deadly items.
She felt her eyes tear up, even when they were closed, due to the burning effect of the chemicals. It wasn't the only thing that burned though. She could feel her lungs burn as if a fire had started upon them, growing bigger and bigger with each breath and pushing her to cough. Her shoulders heaved as she coughed, a bright red liquid erupting past her lips.
The sound of crumbling cement fell upon her ears, causing her to turn her head up in time to watch as the taller portion of the reactor fell upon her.
She never remembered how long she was under there, but she did remember multiple bloody coughs, covering her clothing, staining it and her skin the demon color. She heard movement, causing her to weakly look to where the being was. It was covered with a gas mask, giving the being behind it a wicked look.
That's when she saw the violet eyes.
It was her younger brother, trying to pull the debris away and pull her out of the cursed place. She was enveloped into his arms, warming her up slightly. She could see tears deeply within his eyes. She used one hand, blood staining a few fingers, as she pressed them against the plastic where his eyes were. She only was able to mutter 'You' before darkness enveloped her.
~
After that, she woke up in the hospital, completely changed. Nothing the same. Not even her siblings seemed the same. She sighed sadly. Every year, all this date brought was bad memories.
She shifted slightly as she grabbed a few items she needed for work. This was the only thing, other than hanging out with her little sister, that would keep her from thinking about that day. Maybe this time next year she'll find something new.
Katyusha sniffed slightly as her shaking hands tried desperately to tag the small shaken animal within her arms. She hated doing this wherever she found the animals, for this was found within the most dangerous part known in all of her country. Plus, she hated hurting animals just to make sure they were hers.
A snap from a twig made her jump, releasing the animal even through the tag was bound to come off within a few miles. She turned around greatly, her eyes trying to look at the figure in which made the sound. She heard another twig snap.
Right behind her.
In utter fear, she quickly grabbed her shovel upon the ground and swung, hearing a ringing clang as the metal end hit something. The sounds of a yelp and slight cursing hit her ears, pushing her to pry her eyes open.
Only to gasp.
There was a man, no taller than herself, sprawled among the foliage. His hair was dark and quite uniquely done. His eyes were slowly opening, revealing a dark gray color. He pulled his hand away from his head, revealing the famous crimson liquid.
"Oh my god, I'm sorry," Katyusha cried as she went to him, pulling some wraps out of her overall pocket and start wrapping his wound, "I-it's just....I-I get nervous...a-and I just-" His chuckle broke her thought.
"Don't worry about it," he stated calmly, "I've gotten worse than that." He got up slowly, growing closer to her. Katyusha felt her cheeks heat up a little as she gazed at the man. I mean, it wasn't like he was a God, but he wasn't even the definition of normal.
"Excuse me, ma'am," the man asked, breaking her from her notes, "What's you're name?"
"Um, uh, Katyusha, Katyusha Braginskaya," she stated, gently putting on a smile, "W-what's yours, um..."
"Marek, Marek Dvoracek," he said smiling back as he shook her hand, "If you don't mind, I would like to paint a portrait of you. I was just here exploring the area...plus my sister's suppose to be meeting someone. I'm trying to find something absolutely beautiful to paint and I think I've found it. Do you mind coming to my place when you're ready?"
Katyusha felt herself blush. This man, whom she had just met, had basically called her beautiful. Now how can anyone pass that up?
"A-alright," she said, wringing her hands slightly, "B-but how do I contact you?"
"Ah," he called, digging in his pants pockets before turning to his coat pockets, pulling out a single little card, "Here, my phone numbers right there. Well, I got to go. Till your ready?" Katyusha felt herself nod.
"Yes, of course Marek. Till then."
She grew a little worried when she entered upon the building. It didn't look as she expected for a building that held an art studio. In fact, it looked more of a place where escaped convicts would go. She grew closer to the door, sighing when she saw a buzzer within it's wall. She quickly pressed the three digit number of the man's apartment.
"Hello," the familiar voice called, "Who is it?"
"Marek," she called back slightly fidgeting, her arms pulling her tube top down, "It's me."
"Katy! C-come on up," the buzzer followed, allowing the woman to open the door and walk inside. The inside was quite a bit better than the outside portrayed as she found herself going towards the steps leading up to the higher levels.
Her eyes widened when she finally got onto the final level. Thousands of portraits line the walls and they weren't all appropriate. She felt her heart fall as she compared all of those bodies with her own. She turned her head as the only door opened and he showed up, a artist beret upon his head.
A smile upon his face.
"Hello, Katyusha," he cooed before holding out a hand to her. She smiled slightly before taking the open hand, being pulled into the place. It was an amazing place, if it weren't for only being one room. Against the left side of the room was a couch, with a microwave upon a mini-fridge at the end of it, while the right was the whole studio itself.
He released his grip upon her hand and moved over to grab a stool. Before even thinking of placing it anywhere, he used his free hand to pull down a stain free white background. He placed the stool down right in the center before turning to her.
"Come and sit here would you," he asked, followed with her walking over and sitting upon the wooden object.
"W-what will you be painting of me," she asked, nervously.
"Depends," he said, getting his paints upon his pastel and brushes out, "What would you like me to paint?"
"I-I don't know," she said worriedly, looking down onto her body, "I-is there something you like to paint?"
"Well," he chuckled softly, "If you can smile like you did when we first met and held it for a bit, I'll love to draw that."
"O-oh," Katyusha stuttered surprisingly, "I was kind of expecting-"
"A bare picture," he finished, letting out a chuckle afterwards, "Nah, that wasn't the first thing I saw that was beautiful. Plus the one's lining the walls are people who paid me almost thousands and weren't pretty people to look at." Katyusha giggled because of his reply, making Marek hold up his hands as if he were a movie director and smile.
"That's it, hold that," he exclaimed as he picked his items up and begins his masterpiece.
~A WHILE LATER~
"Marek, are you done," Katyusha asking, eyes still closed while her cheeks ached from holding her expression.
"Almost there...aaaaannnnddddd done," he stated, the sound of the items being placed upon an item before he grew closer and whispered, "Open your eyes." Katyusha slowly peeled open her eyes, only to stare at an almost reflection like picture of her. With flowers behind her and dressed upon her shoulder.
She looked...unbelievable.
"W-wha, that can't be me," she stated, her eyes darting away. Marek turned his painting to overlook it before placing it down and growing closer.
"Now why do you say that," he asked, tipping his head slightly, his black hair messing up.
"I-I'm a radioactive child," she replied, keeping her gaze away from his, "I could never look like that." Marek let out a saddened sighed before using one hand to turn her head to his.
"I'm an artist. I only paint what I see," he said, moving said hand further until his palm rests upon her check, "And I see a beautiful woman ,not a tragic child and if you can't see it through art..." He wrapped his arms around her suddenly, pulling her into her chest.
"Then maybe a date's in order," he stated. Katyusha couldn't believe it, her eyes started watering up as happiness filled her. Her arms wrapped around his back as her face turned into his chest. "Would you like that," he asked. Katy felt herself nod quickly, tears continuing to fall before turning her face up to look at him. Her small smile appeared upon her lips.
"I'd love that," she said, sniffing slightly. It finally happened. She had found it.
